What is needed for a tutoring session?
Equipment needed:
-
Up-to-date computer, Apple, PC, or Tablets/Ipad (phones can make it a little difficult because of size but we can make anything work in a pinch) with built-in camera and microphone
-
We are not able to share control of our screens if a Chromebook is used and prefer to not have your child use one.
-
High-Speed Internet, 1.5 Mbps or higher upload and download speed would be great! You can check your computer's speed at: www.speedtest.net
-
Headphones with a microphone are helpful for your child to concentrate (not necessary though)
-
A Zoom account (how to access Zoom)
Suggestions for during the tutoring session:
-
Create a quiet, distraction-free area for the online tutoring sessions.
-
Close all other programs
-
Try to make sure that others in the home are not downloading or uploading during sessions—this includes gaming, movies, downloading documents, etc. This can affect connection quality.
Parent involvement
-
Please, contact us whenever you have concerns or questions arise. We are a team working for the best interest of your child.
-
In the beginning, it would be great if you are around in case there are any technology issues (but usually the kids are the ones that fix it for us LOL!!)
-
Other than possible technology issues your child is good to go on their own
