My Story
Hello! My name is Melissa Davis, and I am a mom of two wonderful, young adults who are the absolute treasures of my heart. I am also a full-time dyslexia teacher at a local public school, and I am blessed to work with students from first grade through fifth grade.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in interdisciplinary studies for EC-6 grade. I started my teaching career as a first-grade teacher but quickly realized that my passion was to teach reading.
After about eight years of being a first-grade teacher, I was given the opportunity to take the Wilson Introductory Course and became a full-time dyslexia interventionist. After one year, I became Level 1 certified, and I am now a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner and currently working on my Level 2 certification.
Teaching has always been a passion of mine. Not only a passion, but a true calling. It is because of this passion and commitment that defines who I am as an educator. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn at their highest potential in an environment where they feel loved, respected, and safe.
I truly enjoy working with students and getting to know them, how they learn and what motivates them. I love my job and get a great sense of achievement as my students show progress and reach their goals. I feel very accomplished when I can make a positive impact in their lives!
