My Story

Hi! I’m Jessica, and I’m so excited to be working with students at My Happy Teacher. I have always loved reading and writing and sharing my love of both with students. My husband and I have two children and live in beautiful northwest Arkansas. We love getting outside and exploring nature together– hiking, kayaking, and camping.

I completed my Bachelor’s at Reinhardt University and my Master’s at Kennesaw State University. Teaching for more than 10 years now, I have taught students from 4 years old to seniors in high school. I am a fulltime literacy teacher at a public school in Arkansas. Teaching literacy has always been my passion but helping students with dyslexia and other reading challenges is near and dear to my heart. When my daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia, I made a commitment to do whatever I could to best help her. That inspired me to complete my Level 1 certification with Wilson. I am currently completing my Level 2 practicum with Wilson.

I believe all students can grow into amazing readers! My love of learning, reading, and writing is contagious, and I can’t wait to see where we can grow together! Reading is an adventure. Let’s go exploring!

Testimonials

As a parent of a dyslexic/dysgraphic 10 year old, I highly recommend My Happy Teacher. We have struggled for years with the public school system trying to get our son the accommodations he needs. Needless to say, it has been a struggle.

My Happy Teacher has been a totally different experience. They are highly knowledgeable, caring and willing to take the time to listen to our concerns. They are very flexible with our busy schedule as well.

My son typically does not want to go to school due to his struggles. My Happy Teacher is totally different; he loves it and always wants to work with his instructor longer.
