My Story
As a Wilson Level I practitioner I have seen firsthand the gains that students can make through systematic, explicit phonics and spelling instruction. I will be your child’s champion, advocate and cheerleader as they overcome their reading challenges.
My path to becoming a teacher began at the University of California, San Diego where I studied Spanish Literature and minored in teaching. I worked as a bilingual classroom teacher for 11+ years in Escondido, CA. In 2013, my family and I moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and I began my journey to becoming a Reading Specialist by receiving a Master of Arts in Language and Literacy. I was a Reading Interventionist and Reading Specialist in Wisconsin for 7 years.
In 2024, my family and I moved back to California (Ontario) and I am currently a Literacy Coach. My hard-working husband is a superintendent at a private school and I have two amazing daughters. One is studying to become a Speech Pathologist and one will work in Environmental Management and Protection. We also have a wire-haired terrier mix named Lily.
I have worked with Kindergarten through eighth grade students. I am very adept at accommodating children with ADHD, dyslexia, autism and Specific Learning Disability.
A fun fact about me is that I enjoy backcountry hiking and I hiked a segment of the John Muir Trail with my youngest daughter.
